And Then Came Breast Cancer wins Gold at 2024 British Podcast Awards

The 6Foot6 Productions podcast And Then Came Breast Cancer won Gold at the British Podcast Awards in the Wellbeing category.

The British Podcast Awards were this year judged by Leanne Alie - head of podcasts at The Partnership Group - and Surithi Bala and Hannah Maguire of the Redhanded podcast.

And Then Came Breast Cancer is a podcast for anyone who has come into contact with the disease. Hosted by the award-winning journalist Victoria Derbyshire - herself a breast cancer survivor - each episode discusses an aspect of the cancer journey, from how to spot the first signs, to dealing with the aftermath of treatment and everything in between.

Deservedly proud, Victoria took to her social media accounts to join Future Dreams in thanking everyone involved in the podcast; from the production team to the listeners at home, to Genesis Care who sponsored our most recent series, we’re so glad to have you.

“Thank you SO much for listening and to all of you incredible women and men who have taken part.” said Victoria. “You are frank, you are open, and you are helping thousands of others.”

& Then Came Breast Cancer hits Bullseye

The Bullseye Award at the 2022 British Podcast Awards was won by The 6Foot6 Production & Then Came Breast Cancer. The podcast, which is presented by breast cancer survivor Victoria Derbyshire, was praised for giving “comfort to those listening” who had been diagnosed with the illness.

Episodes included discussions on the difficulties of telling family members of the news and how to break it to children, the fear of dying, but also went into the practicalities of coping with hair loss and carrying on working.

“The podcast that no doubt brought comfort to those listening who had shared experience. The lightness from some guests gave a fuller account when combined with the grittier elements, and the treatment that focused around moments and experiences made it stand out from the crowd.” - British Podcast Award judges

& Then Came Breast Cancer (the third series of which is currently in production) is made for Future Dreams - a charity that provides practical and emotional support for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

King Louis takes the crown at New York Festivals Radio Awards

The 6Foot6 Production King Louis The First won Gold in the Documentary (biography/profiles) category at the New York Festivals Radio Awards in April 2022. The podcast, which looked at the extensive influence the legendary jazz trumpeter had in the United Kingdom, was presented by Byron Wallen; Wallen himself is a musician who first picked up the trumpet having heard “Satchmo” play. The documentary explored not only how the connection between Armstrong and his British fans began, but why it is still as strong today.
